I love summer. It’s warm, there’s no snow (I live in snow city basically) and the weather is gorgeous. Most of the time. And it’s closer to my favorite season – Fall.
The one thing I hate about summer the most is the humidity. Ever since I was a kid I’ve loved the heat, loved summer, but it doesn’t like me. I’ve had Heat Exhaustion since I was a kid. Any long period of time outside in the sun drains me, and makes me feel exhausted.
Sleeping is a chore in the summer as well. I’m one of those people who can’t sleep without a blanket or something, but in the summer my normal comforter is way too hot.
This week is the worst it’s been all year. Mid – high 90’s all week. I’m so very glad that I’m not baking this week, I’d. Be starting at 4am to make sure I’m not baking all day when it starts to heat up.
I’m also very glad that where I work, live and drive there’s air conditioning. I don’t think I’d do too well in the gas station if there was no air conditioning.
I remember a few years ago before I got my first RAV4, I had my grandma’s old Saturn L200 and the air conditioning was broke from the time I got it until the time it finally died. That was the worst time, especially when I would go down to Florida and it was hotter down there.
I’ve also noticed that people’s moods tend to get a lot worse when it gets hotter out. The heat tends to make everyone more miserable. Normally it’s manageable, but you add in a pandemic and god knows whatever else is going on and it just seems like everyone is either really nice right now or just in the worst moods. And they take those moods out on others.
I can’t tell you how many times I got yelled at this past weekend (yes it was July 4th weekend too) about things that were out of my control or because I asked them (at work) to do something differently than they were doing.
What is it about the heat that just makes everyone more volatile?
