My Favorite TV Shows

TV is another way for people to escape from reality. To turn off their brains for a little while. They’re a way for people to see some of their favorite actors in different roles. Sometimes TV shows are based off of books which allows people to see the book as a visual thing. These are some of my favorite TV shows, in no particular order.

Higher Ground

Higher Ground will always be one of my all-time favorite shows. It came out in 2000 when I was in 9th grade. Starring Hayden Christensen, AJ Cook, Meghan Ory, Jewel Staite, Joe Lando, and more, it was about a group of delinquent teens who attended a boarding school of sorts to deal with their problems. I will always love that show. I was supposed to meet Hayden this month at a convention but with all the craziness surrounding the Corona Virus and the convention going no-touch/no handshakes I felt like it would be better to wait until the craziness subsides.

Hex

Probably my favorite British-based TV Shows. Hex stars Michael Fassbender and Joseph Morgan. It’s about a girl named Cassie who is a witch. Michael Fassbender plays a demon named Azazeal, and Joseph plays Troy, Cassie’s love interest in the first season. I’ve been following Joseph’s career since before this show came on and I’ll continue to follow his career. I’ve met him several times, and I actually shocked him when I first met him because I actually watched his older stuff first and then watched him on The Vampire Diaries, opposed to other people who watched him on The Vampire Diaries and then watched his older stuff.

Sabrina the Teenage Witch

I can’t tell you how many times I got the “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” joke growing up. Yes, my name is Sabrina, no I’m not a witch. And I don’t have a black cat named Salem. I don’t trust cats (sue me), I’m a dog person. I love the original Sabrina the Teenage Witch show, especially Salem the talking cat. I never got into the newer show (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), it’s a bit too much for me, and I’m too used to seeing Sabrina Spellman as not a dark Satan-worshipping witch.

Daria

Daria is a state of mind. She wasn’t the most popular girl in school – much like myself – and I appreciated that a show focused on not all of the popular kids, but showed some of the non-popular kids that were still cool in their own right. She’s a bit more cynical than I’ve always been, but still she was semi-relatable.

Dark Angel

Dark Angel was amazing. Jessica Alba, Michael Weatherly, a young Jensen Ackles? A futuristic world with highly advanced humans? I absolutely loved this show, and wish it had lasted longer. Jensen Ackles as Ben, and then Alec was amazing. Alec was such a sarcastic flirt and it was ridiculously amazing to watch.

Dawson’s Creek

Dawson’s Creek came out when I was eleven. I’d always loved Josh Jackson since he was in the Mighty Ducks movies. The whole show was an interesting take on small town high school drama. They breached a lot of real issues that happened during high school, at least I thought so. I was always more of a Pacey fan than Dawson and I loved Pacey and Andie together the most.

So Weird

A show about a girl who loves the paranormal? Sign me up. So Weird was one of my favorite Disney shows from 1999 – 2001. I loved learning more about the different paranormal entities that Fi or Annie met on their adventures around the country. And Alexz Johnson who played Annie is one of my favorite singers as well.

The Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory is probably the funniest of the shows on my list. Sheldon is a genius who has no grip on social graces, and his group of comic book loving friends brings to light the popularity that I hate to say nerds or geeks have in this day in age. I love the dynamics of the smart people vs the pretty people.

The Vampire Diaries & The Originals

Last but certainly not least The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. These are probably two of my favorite shows. I’ve made some amazing friends from these shows – going to conventions and more. My favorite characters are Jeremy, Tyler, Matt, Klaus, Kol, Elijah and Rebekah. Attending the conventions I was able to meet some of my actors, even became friends with a couple of them, and I will never ever forget any of the memories I made at the conventions I attended. I was never a fan of the baby plot line on The Originals or on The Vampire Diaries. Vampires cannot get pregnant – no matter how much they love to try – and I thought the baby plot was a bunch of crap. The Originals have 1000 years of planning and they could have done a show that showed those 1000 years, but yet the decide to do a show about a miracle unicorn baby.

These are some of my favorite TV shows. What are yours?
