“The book is a film that takes place in the mind of the reader. That's why we go to movies and say, "Oh, the book is better.” ― Paulo Coelho

I love movies. I love going to the movies and seeing the vision of directors, and how they turn ideas or even novels into movies. Some movies, I think, would be better as TV shows or some would be better not turned into movies, but there are some movies that I absolutely love. I’ve watched them for years, and I will continue to do so. These are not ranked in order; I don’t think I could choose. They’re just my favorite.

Harry Potter

I LOVE Harry Potter. If you read My Favorite Books Blog Post, Harry Potter is featured on there as well. JK Rowling took an idea about a boy who is a wizard and created this world that many of us, myself included, grew up with. We grew up wanting to get our letters to Hogwarts, to attend 7 more years of school even after we’d graduated whatever school it was that we attended in the Muggle world. We reread the novels constantly. And we rewatch the movies as well. I love rewatching the movies. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is probably my favorite. You’re introduced to this amazingly fantastic world. You see Hogwarts for the first time. You meet all these amazing characters that you’ve read about since you were eleven (or however old you were when the books came out.

Magic Beyond Words

Magic Beyond Words is a Lifetime movie based on the book JK Rowling A Biography by Sean Smith, starring Poppy Montgomery. It shows JK Rowling as a child up until the premiere of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. JK Rowling had no say in the movie, but I love Poppy Montgomery’s version of JK Rowling. You see her writing process, how her imagination turned normal situations into magical ones.

Twilight

Twilight will always have a place in my heart. It’s one of my favorite book series. Seeing the books, the characters turned into film was amazing. Most of the actors were perfectly chosen in my eyes. They played them as best they could with the screenplay/script they were given. I met the actors, worked with some of them. Meeting the actors who play your favorite characters make it so much more interesting to watch the movies, and the characters they play.

Hocus Pocus

Hocus Pocusis my all-time favorite Halloween movie. I absolutely love it. Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy are the perfect actresses to play their characters. No one could play Winnie, Sarah or Mary Sanderson like them. Omri Katz and Sean Murray were nearly everyone’s childhood, early teenage crushes. Hocus Pocus came out when I was six, but when I watched it as a teenager, I was the same. I wanted to fly like the Sanderson sisters, I wanted to have a talking black cat (okay maybe dog) like Binx, I wanted to live in Max & Dani’s house with the upstairs bedroom. I’ve always wanted to live in Salem, MA, ever since I was a kid. I still do. It’s on my list. When they announced a sequel, I was both nervous and excited. I still haven’t read it. If they do make a sequel movie, I hope to god that they get as many of the original cast as they can – they’ve all said that they are willing to do the sequel.

King Arthur

I love the legend of King Arthur. I would love to go back to that time period to see what really happened, who King Arthur really was, if anyone at all. Lancelot is my favorite character in 2004’s King Arthur. One of my favorite actors is Ioan Gruffudd. Seeing him play Lancelot was amazing. He’s charming, charismatic, whatever the word is. I can’t see anyone else as Lancelot. Clive Owen is so enticingly convincing as King Arthur, and Kiera Knightley is amazing as Guinevere. Every so often there is another version of King Arthur made. This one will probably always be my favorite.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

Okay, Marvel is a lot of different movies, TV shows, and originally comic books. I never read the comic books. But you don’t have to read the comics to appreciate the movies or TV shows. The casting for Marvel is amazing. Robert Downey Jr is Iron Man, Chris Evans is Captain America, the list goes on and on. My favorite Marvel movies are probably Captain Marvel – Brie Larson is amazing – any of the Avengers ensemble movies, and Iron Man or Thor. Chris Hemsworth is spellbinding as Thor. Robert Downey Jr brings Iron Man to life. I also absolutely love Sebastian Stan as Winter Solider. I met Chris Hemsworth and Sebastian Stan. I absolutely love them, as actors, as their characters. Stan Lee created these amazing characters to life, directors and the actors brought them to life.

Beauty and the Beast

Belle has always been one of my favorite Disney Princesses. She’s independent, loves to read. I love both the animated version, and the live action. The animated Beauty and the Beast came out when I was four years old. I had a Chip cup and toy when I was little. Flash forward 26 years, and I’m 30 years old, loving the new live action version of Beauty and the Beaststarring Emma Watson as Belle. She was joined by a very illustrious cast, including Luke Evans as Gaston, Dan Stevens as Beast, and more. The casting was amazing in my view. I went to Disney a couple months ago, and finally got to meet Gaston. It would have been even more amazing to meet Belle as well, but there’s always next time.

Timeline

Paul Walker was an amazing actor. He brought Brian O’Conner to life in the Fast and the Furious movie series. But one of my favorite movies of his is Timeline. I love going to Medieval Times – a dinner and show whenever I’m near one of the locations – although I don’t think I’d make it very far living back then. The cast, the plot, everything. It’s one of my favorite movies to watch.

Pirates of the Caribbean

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me. I love Pirates. Pirates of the Caribbean is my favorite Pirate themed movie series. Johnny Depp IS Captain Jack Sparrow. No one else could play him. I refuse to see anyone else as Captain Jack. Or as Elizabeth Swann or Will Turner. Johnny Depp has taken this Disney character of Captain Jack Sparrow and turned it into his own.

Underworld

Who doesn’t love vampires? Underworld, and its entire series is an amazing version of the vampire and Lycan feud. Kate Beckingsale is absolutely outstanding as Selene. The entire series is amazing. They added one of my other favorite actors – Theo James – to the series as David the vampire, and he’s absolutely amazing.

Star Wars

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Who doesn’t like Star Wars? I’ve always loved Star Wars. Leia is a badass, Han is a smooth criminal (literally), R2-D2 is the “hold my beer” meme come to life. In the prequels, Anakin is my favorite, partly in due to Hayden Christensen being one of my favorite actors since he was in Higher Ground. George Lucas made this amazing world, and I for one cannot wait to go to Hollywood Studios and see how Disney took George’s vision and turned it into a theme park.
