Favorite Places I've Traveled

I love traveling. If it didn’t cost so much, I’d do it more often. I haven’t left North America yet, but I’ve been to some pretty awesome places. These are my favorite places that I’ve been to, and other than the first, they’re not in any specific order.

#1 --- Salem, MA

Have you ever traveled somewhere before and just felt like you belong there? That’s Salem for me. I went for the first time when I was about ten years old, I believe. I’ve always been drawn to and obsessed with the history of the city, especially the Salem Witch Trials. Nearly every year since 2014 I’ve gone down to Salem at least twice a year, usually always on Halloween. Last year was the first time since 2014 that I didn’t go to Salem for Halloween.

Salem is addicting. For me at least. The energy, the history, everything about it draws me in and I never want to leave. I’ve wanted to move there since I was a kid, but sadly it’s way out of my price range. But I’m still young, so goals? I’m going to do another blog post about my favorite places in Salem, and outside of it, so I won’t get too detailed here.

#2 --- Orlando, FL

What’s not to love about Orlando? You’ve got Universal, Disney, warm weather, and so much more. I’ve been going to Orlando since 2011, mostly for conventions, and 2020 was the first time since December 2016 that I was down there. To say that I missed seeing palm trees on every road, or the warm weather is an understatement. Honestly, I’d love to live down there, except I don’t think I can deal with hurricanes. Snow is enough for me to handle, and I don’t like that. Downtown Disney (yes, I’ll continue to call it that even though it’s now Disney Springs), Universal and Magic Kingdom are probably my favorite places to go when I’m down there, along with Medieval Times (of course), and the Pirate Dinner Adventure.

#3 --- Las Vegas, NV

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. Right? I’ve been to Las Vegas once – back in 2016, and it was an interesting experience to say the least. You see so many people in Las Vegas, so many things. Between the crazy lights, wild shows, and so much more, Las Vegas is a highly addictive places, and I’m honestly surprised that I managed NOT to gamble at all when I was there.

#4 --- Niagara Falls, ON

I haven’t been to Niagara Falls in years, I hope to rectify that this year when I attend Fangsgiving (a Vampire Diaries fan event), but it’s gorgeous there and I can’t wait to go back.

#5 --- Covington, GA

Covington. Small town vibes, right? Two of my favorite shows – The Vampire Diaries and The Originals – filmed there, and in the surrounding areas. Covington has this small town charm that you can’t help but fall in love with. They actually created a restaurant based on the restaurant from The Vampire Diaries – and their food is amazing. I highly recommend checking out The Mystic Grill when in Covington. The Vampire Diaries will always hold a place in my heart – I’ve made so many friends from it, so many memories, and Covington will probably always be one of my favorite places in Georia.

#6 --- Plymouth, MA

Plymouth is the southernmost point of Massachusetts – that I’ve been to. The ocean views, the history. It’s addictive. I love just “getting lost” by walking around and seeing what I can discover. Seeing Plymouth Rock, Plimouth Plantation, the Pilgrim Hall Museum, and everything in between, it’s so beautiful down there.

#7 --- Portland, ME

I haven’t been to Portland since I think like 2009, I used to go up there for hockey a few times. I made some great friends up there and saw some amazing things. Portland’s views are gorgeous.

#8 --- Gloucester, MA

Back to Massachusetts, this time about 30 minutes north of Salem. Gloucester’s views are absolutely gorgeous, and I love going up there and just sitting and listening to the ocean for hours. Stage Fort Park has some of the most amazing views, as does Ocean House Hotel at Bass Rocks. I stayed at that hotel back in 2018. You walk out of your room, and no matter what floor you’re on you have this amazing ocean view. I was lucky enough to have a room on the first floor, and I could just walk out onto the small patio outside my room and then down to the ocean. Hearing the ocean hitting the rocks is one of the most soothing sounds.

#9 --- Lake Placid, NY

Do you believe in miracles? I wasn’t even born when the 1980 Olympics took place. But traveling to Lake Placid you see this history, the views of this amazing city. I used to go up every summer/fall when I was a kid, and I haven’t been there in years, but I always loved going up there.

#10 --- Old Forge, NY

The Adirondacks is gorgeous, and Old Forge is just as gorgeous. Enchanted Forest Water Safari is one of my favorite places up there, as well as Tony Harper’s – my favorite restaurant up there.
